September 2010 is Childhood Obesity Awareness Month

    Hi Everybody,
 
     I am truly honored to say that our RICHARD SIMMONS' Ask America PE Crusade has joined forces with many, many great organizations around the country in designating SEPTEMBER 2010 as National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month.

     Childhood Obesity has now reached epidemic proportions.  Children today will not live as long as their parents due to complications directly related to obesity, poor diet and inactivity.

     This subject is especially important to me on a very personal level.  Many of you know, I too, was an overweight child and teen.

     In fact, I have made it my LEGACY to do everything in my power to prevent children from having to grow up the way I did.

     In the coming weeks, on this page, I'll be sharing my story, as well as tips and motivational tools for raising healthier, happier kids, with bright futures.

     I also invite you to write to me with your story and ideas on how we can all work together to make our future generations and their families, live longer and better lives.

     Our group, the National Childhood Obesity Council, has created a wonderful WEB-SITE with ACTIVITIES, TOOL KITS and EVENTS, to assist parents, teachers and communities with planning September activities.  Please do visit!
