From Richard’s staff:
Hi everyone!
Thank you so much for continuing to support Richard’s platforms and continuing to show kindness to each other and to Richard’s family, staff, friends, and fans!
Richard did a lot of work, and touched countless lives during his fifty year career. You’ve told us how much you miss his posts and stories. We want to keep his legacy alive here on this page!
On this day, in 1997, Richard was on one of his legendary Cruise to Lose cruises ( Did you ever go on one?). He had sailed from Miami aboard the Carnival Imagination… and he wrote the post below. Hope it can inspire you as you are learning and working on your own “sculpture” this week.

“Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to my wonderful brother, Leonard! Happy Birthday to you!”
Lenny, even though I’m on this ship, I’m lighting a candle on the birthday cake for you! When I am home in New Orleans with you, we have a cake, but when I’m not home, I still get a cake and celebrate with you! I love you, you sweet man. I was given the greatest brother in the world!
Before I started doing these cruises, I thought Ocho Rios was an omelet! Well, we’re here all day today, and we’re doing the word of the day!
Today we are “Learning”! You will learn something today. It may not be the most important thing you’ve learned, but it’s something to add! “Learning” means to gain knowledge; to become a master at something.
There are some beautiful sculptures on this island! Isn’t it amazing? Just like Michelangelo carving that statue “David” that lives in Florence, Italy. We all are sort of sculptors. We have to learn that by eating healthy and exercising, we are chipping away and creating a healthier body!
There’s so much out there I want to learn! I want to learn how to speak more languages. When I get back from the cruise, I’ll be taking more classes and continuing my learning experience.
How about you? What do you want to learn? Today you have to walk around and ask yourself that question! Sometimes we learn things about ourselves that are not so fabulous. But remember, 99% is fixable! You just have to learn how to fix it!
Now that we’ve been cruisin’ a while on the net, have you been making a real effort to eat healthy? I mean a real effort? I promise you, no one on this ship is skipping exercise, and I don’t want you to either.
It’s formal dinner tonight. Long pants, the sequel.
Love,
Richard
