I loved the musical Hair. When they sang Age of Aquarius I went crazy. One of my other favorite songs was Good Morning Starshine. At the end of act One. The cast danced under a huge colorful blanket. It was see thru and the cast were …..naked.

I went to see Sunset Boulevard with Glenn Close. I really didn’t know she was a singer. Ms. Close has done so many movies … Do you remember Fatal Attraction? Oh boy. This show was based on the Black and white movie of the same name. It starred Gloria Swanson. Her performance of Norma Desmond was haunting. Her eyes mesmerized me.

Next stop was seeing a musical called Les Miserables. I had dinner earlier that evening. When I went to the theater a I had to use the restroom. The usher took me downstairs . While I was down there ….there was a bomb threat at the theater. The bomb squad looked all over the theater. They came downstairs and there was only one door that was closed …And I was sitting behind it. Two officers yelled “Come out now!”…. They escorted me back to the streets where we waited two hours for the show to begin. What amazing songs were in this show. On My Own …Did You Hear the People Sing and my favorite I Dreamed a Dream. I didn’t get home until 1 am. They made a movie out of this show with Hugh Jackman….Russell Crow and Anne Hathaway who won an Oscar foe her performance.

What can I say about Mama Mia. This show was based in all the songs by Abba. During the show people were standing up and singing the songs….me included. They made a movie called Mama Mia that starred Meryl Streep. Pierce Brosnan…and Amanda Seyfried. My favorite songs were Dancing Queen and Take a Chance on Me .

While visiting Toronto I saw Show Boat. This musical was very long. Every time they changed the scenery. A man would come out and sing. Old Man River. He sang this song eight times. I started to feel old!

Did you see Phantom of the Opera. I saw it with Mr Michael Crawford. He had an unbelievable voice. During the show, a chandelier dropped from the ceiling. It was caught by a net. To tell you the truth, I jumped out of my seat. …..To be continued…

Love,

Richard
